i started my day at about 4:30 am today. i regularly have nightmares, and have learned to cope with them pretty well. they are part (but not the whole) of my insomnia, and a big part of my work on lucid dreaming. at this point in my life, a nightmare is the type of dream so involved or disturbing that i can\u2019t bring myself out of it. a nightmare, to me, these days, is either not being aware that i am dreaming, or knowing i am and still being unable to do anything about it.<\/p>\n
this morning, i had an incredibly vivid dream that i was back in my grandparents summer house. in the dream, someone had broken into the house, and my grandfather and i went to investigate. on the way to the front door, we split paths around a dining room table, and the perpetrator ran past me and tackled my grandfather. as i rushed over to pull the guy off of him, all i could think was that if i had been a little quicker, or had been holding something in my hand, like a bat, i could have stopped the guy before he got my grandfather.<\/p>\n
of course, there was another person in the house, who stabbed me in the back as soon as i tried to haul his partner off my grandfather. i woke up with that knife in my back, my brain buzzing “intruder!”. i could not put myself back under. i was so unsettled, in fact, that i had to get up and do a circuit of my apartment to be sure that everything was sound in my own house, and that this was not some sort of subconscious warning system.<\/p>\n
the eerie thing is, L. was having a nightmare when I woke up, but doesn’t recall it. t three other people I have talked to today about their dreams last night\/this morning all mentioned vivid nightmares, between 3-5 am EST. the themes of all of them have surrounded separation from loved ones, violence done to loved ones, sneak attacks, and some sort of buzzing and or alarm\/klaxon. given the vivid pallete of the nightmare, i find this interesting statistically, among other reasons. <\/p>\n
anyone else in on this?<\/p>\n
