By New Year\u2019s Eve, you should have<br \/>\n      done the following:<\/font><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><font size=\"3\" face=\"Bookman Old Style\">Clean the entire home to get<br \/>\n          rid of all the things that are associated with the old year.<\/font><\/li>\n<li><font size=\"3\" face=\"Bookman Old Style\">Put away all brooms and<br \/>\n          brushes.<\/font><\/li>\n<li><font size=\"3\" face=\"Bookman Old Style\">Pay all your debts.<\/font><\/li>\n<li><font size=\"3\" face=\"Bookman Old Style\">Resolve differences with<br \/>\n          family members, friends, neighbors and business associates.<\/font><\/li>\n<li><font size=\"3\" face=\"Bookman Old Style\">Buy the following:<\/font>\n<p><font size=\"3\" face=\"Bookman Old Style\">&#8211; red money envelopes<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"3\" face=\"Bookman Old Style\">&#8211; oranges and\/or tangerines<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"3\" face=\"Bookman Old Style\">&#8211; circular candy tray<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"3\" face=\"Bookman Old Style\">&#8211; flowers (especially plum<br \/>\n          blossom, peach blossom, water lily)<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"3\" face=\"Bookman Old Style\">&#8211; a new set of clothes and<br \/>\n          shoes for children, preferably something red or orange.<\/font><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li><font size=\"3\" face=\"Bookman Old Style\">Get new dollar bills from<br \/>\n          the bank. Insert the new dollar bills into the red envelopes. Now the<br \/>\n          red envelope is called a <i>lee see<\/i> or lucky money envelope.<\/font><\/li>\n<li>\n<blockquote>\n<p><font size=\"3\" face=\"Bookman Old Style\">(note: Very few modern<br \/>\n            families follow all the &quot;cleaning&quot; traditions.)<\/font><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><font color=\"#FF0000\">ON NEW YEAR\u2019s EVE:<\/font><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><font size=\"3\" face=\"Bookman Old Style\">Get together with close<br \/>\n          family members (not including married daughters and their families)<br \/>\n          for the &quot;reunion&quot; dinner.<\/font><\/li>\n<li><font size=\"3\" face=\"Bookman Old Style\">Pay respect to ancestors and<br \/>\n          household gods. Acknowledge the presence of ancestors because they are<br \/>\n          responsible for the fortunes of future generations.<\/font><\/li>\n<li><font size=\"3\" face=\"Bookman Old Style\">Open every door and window<br \/>\n          in your home at midnight to let go of the old year.<\/font><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><font color=\"#FF0000\">ON NEW YEAR\u2019s DAY:<\/font><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><font size=\"3\" face=\"Bookman Old Style\">Decorate your home with<br \/>\n          symbols of good fortune. Here are some suggestions:<br \/>\n          <\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"3\" face=\"Bookman Old Style\">&#8211; Colors: Bright red<br \/>\n          (happiness); gold\/orange (wealth &amp; happiness).<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"3\" face=\"Bookman Old Style\">&#8211; Fruits: Oranges and<br \/>\n          tangerines (good health &amp; long life); tangerines with leaves<br \/>\n          intact (long lasting relationships; fruitful and multiply as in having<br \/>\n          children); persimmons (happiness and wealth).<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"3\" face=\"Bookman Old Style\">&#8211; Circular candy tray<br \/>\n          (candy for sweet and circular for togetherness).<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"3\" face=\"Bookman Old Style\">&#8211; Flowers: If flowers bloom<br \/>\n          on New Year\u2019s Day, it will be a prosperous year.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"3\" face=\"Bookman Old Style\">&#8211; Red banners or couplets<br \/>\n          with New Year wishes and symbols of good fortune in gold.<br \/>\n          <\/font><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li><font size=\"3\" face=\"Bookman Old Style\">Here are some suggestions<br \/>\n          for food:<br \/>\n          <\/font><\/li>\n<li><font size=\"3\" face=\"Bookman Old Style\"><i>&#8211; Jai <\/i>&#8211; a combination<br \/>\n          of food that represents good fortune. <i>Jai<\/i> comprises of ginkgo<br \/>\n          nut, black moss, dried bean curd, bamboo shoots, vermicelli and<br \/>\n          scallion.<\/font><\/li>\n<li><font size=\"3\" face=\"Bookman Old Style\">&#8211; Fish and chicken represent<br \/>\n          prosperity. Always present the fish and chicken as a whole. Do not cut<br \/>\n          them in pieces. The head, tail and feet (for chicken) must be<br \/>\n          presented to symbolize completeness.<\/font><\/li>\n<li><font size=\"3\" face=\"Bookman Old Style\">&#8211; Noodles represent<br \/>\n          longevity. Because happiness comes in two\u2019s, do not just give one. This<br \/>\n      is your way of passing good luck to the next generation. Business owners<br \/>\n      also give <i>lee see\u2019s<\/i> to employees and associates.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"3\" face=\"Bookman Old Style\">&#8211; Wear brand new clothes &#8211;<br \/>\n      preferably in red.
