The earth-mother’s love, the word adoration of Yaweh,
\nBuddas plump familiar smile,
\nShiva’s allurnig dance.
\nAll these must be crushed
\nUnder the weight
\nUnder the Truth
\nOf the Cross of the Martyr.<\/p>\n
A quiet man sits alone in the desert,<\/p>\n
Weary of preaching, tired of teaching.
\nAnother man approaches, hoping to show
\nthe follies of things yet to be
\nthe hopes of reality ant the world.
\n“Tempter!” cries the quiet one “Let me be!.”
\nThe tempter only wants to save
\nthe blood
\nof the Children of the Martyr.<\/p>\n
Now is the time of sackcloth suns<\/p>\n
Of boiling seas
\nOf rivers of blood;
\nNow is the time when the sinners repent
\nOr do they?
\nWhere is the righteous savior
\nwho once cried “Tempter!”?<\/p>\n
He sits with the white sheeted dragon;<\/p>\n
He cavorts with the black-on-red spider;
\nThe petty despots and slease of the world
\nAre once gain His table-fellows.
\nThe Martyr of the Cross, returned,
\nFinds himself, again feasting with the
\nUdesireables.
\nThis time there is no message
\nThis time he has no crowds to preach to
\nThey have already heard him,
\nAnd are as guilty as he is.<\/p>\n
Oh sweet Jesus<\/p>\n
